2010 Saratoga Brewfest (6/19/10 in Ballston Spa, NY)

This is the second beer fest I've been to this year, and it was LOCAL! This festival was put on by some of the local beer distributors and a few upstate New York microbreweries. The majority of the booths were simply bottles of a particular brewery's beers poured by Brewfest staff members. There were a few breweries on tap, though.

I have to thank Jeremy at Tri-Valley Beverage for hooking me up with a press pass. Also, thanks to my friend Kristin for coming out to the festival and acting as my chauffeur/videographer. My usual guest reviewers ALL had to work or were out of town that day (yes, really!).

you can check out the official website for this brewfest at

see you here in 2011!

  1. It is my understanding that this event was actually organized and hosted by a newly formed company called Saratoga Festivals, LLC who worked closely with local distributors and breweries. The event was held on a beautiful 260 acre farm in rural Saratoga County and not only featured 40 breweries but also 3 bands and great food! Also, a portion of the proceeds went to benefit Saratoga P.L.A.N.
The volunteer pourers were very friendly and made the day enjoyable. One thing I would like to see is more brewery reps there but after speaking with one of the organizers I learned that the weekend was a tough one given the Ber Advocate Fest in Boston and the NYC Brew Fest on Gov. Island.
I hope they do this again next year!!!

  2. Chad- Are you planning on reviewing any of the beers that were present? I saw that Dogfish HEad had some awesome beers there and heard there were 5 cask ales served in the VIP area where they also had a guest speaker from Washington DC who was recently featured in Food & Wine Magazine. By the time I got there that event was sold out but man I wish I could have gotten in.
Chad-were you in there? I would think it would be an ideal event for a self proclaimed beer reviewer!
