AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Appearance: might be the darkest beer I’ve ever seen. Head is like beautiful mud.
Aroma: mostly dark chocolate, but not as intense as other chocolate stouts. Noticeable hops imparts some citrus.
Taste: delicious dark chocolate not overdone. Nice gentle bitterness with a touch of pepper in the aftertaste. Oak aging gives a slightly smokey and woody taste in the finish. Robust but smooth.
Drink: for 9.5% ABV it tastes and feels like something much lighter. You can gulp it or sip it. Booze is well masked.
Mouthfeel: not too thick, not too thin; not too lively, but not flat.
Overall: very impressive. Not the best chocolate stout I’ve ever had but a damn good one. Highly recommended.
Grade: 10/10
