N'ice Chouffe (2010 original review)
- Albany, USA - JUL 16, 2011
12oz mug at Mahars for $7.50
Appearance: maroon Garnett blood red. Fantastic lacing all the way down the mug.
Smell: somewhat mild. Basically a melange of jelly and little spice. No alcohol present.
Taste: mostly sweet front and middle. Slightly dry bitterness on the back end. Some jelly flavors throughout (grape raspberry black currant). Typical Belgian peppery taste too.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied. Good carbonation. Tad coarse finish but easily tolerable.
Drinkability: 10% abv? No way! Drinks like half that! Dryness becomes wearing after a while though.
Overall: a good beer with great palate but not an amazing taste. I like it.
