Had a 16oz on tap at Lionheart Pub in Downtown Albany NY for $5

Looks like a typical stout. Pitch black body. Dark foamy head. Not much lacing, though.

Smells like pure vanilla extract. Reminds me of a bakery. Some rum-like booze scent.

Tastes just like it smells. All vanilla all the time! Based one the actual creme brûlée dessert, this beer comes damn close. Tastes like cake or cookies but with a smooth, dry, warm rum finish. Leaves me thirsty for a glass of milk. Very tasty, but I think some of their other beers mask the booze better.

Mouthfeel isn’t quite as thick or intense as you’d think. Full bodied beer for sure.

Drinks pretty well considering how rich it is and how potent it is at 9.2% ABV. Significant boozy aftertaste though. Alcohol becomes more prominent as it warms. Vanilla flavor holds up though.

Overall a great dessert beer but it’s difficult to drink more than 6-10 oz at a time (the double edged sword of rich beers).

Grade: 9/10
