Saratoga Beer Week beer dinner at Druthers Brewing (2/20/13 in Saratoga Springs, NY)


Druthers Brewing is the Capital District's newest brewpub. It's located in downtown Saratoga Springs and was opened by George De Piro, who was the brewmaster at Albany Pump Station for a number of years. I have been here several times before but just hadn't done any vlogs until now. Since it was "Saratoga Beer Week", Druthers hosted a five-course beer dinner. I decided to check it out since you know how much I love beer dinners. Here's what was on the menu:

1st Course: Charcuterie
Shaved Guanciale, whipped lardo, house-made honeycomb, elderflower and pilsner gelatin.
Beer pairing: Golden Rule Blonde

2nd Course: Pancetta-Wrapped Monk Fish
Bacon, brussel sprouts, creamy polenta, red wine demi and turnip greens.
Beer pairing: All In IPA and Belgian Amber Ale

3rd Course: Braised Bacon
Barley risotto, shaved horseradish, garlic chips, demi and watercress.
Beer pairing: Druthers Extra Special Bitter (ESB)

4th Course: Pork Tenderloin
Grilled endive, mini potatoes, bacon froth, caramal malt glaze.
Beer pairing: Druther Cocoa Brown Ale

5th Course: Druthers Chipwich
House chocolate chip cookies deep fried in tempura batter with candied bacon gelato.
Beer pairing: Simple Truth Barleywine

Of all the beer dinners I've been to I have to say the food at this one was among the best (if not THE best)! The beer were pretty good, I especially liked the IPA and the barleywine. I'll try to get up here more often and write some formal reviews of their beers.
