Goose Island Sofie

   AROMA 7/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 6/10   PALATE 2/5   OVERALL 12/20Chad9976 (1558) - Orlando, Florida, USA - MAR 11, 2016

2015 BJCP Category: 25B Saison

AROMA: Orangepeel, white grape, general farm quality. Lemonade quality. Estery. 8/12

APPEARANCE: Definitely right color, but very small head with no lacing or retention. 1/3

FLAVOR: Light orange peel, plenty of white grape. Some tartness on the finish. Spice fades quickly. Becomes more dry and tart. Some honey wheat flavor. Tame for the style, but interesting. 13/20

MOUTHFEEL: Undercarbonated for the style. Light body. Tepid, watery mouthfeel. Some alcohol warmth. Should be much more bubbly 2/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: A fine beer and additional wine barrel is creative. Not a great example of the saison style, though. Amazing that a fresh bottle is so mild. Probably better considered Belgian Blonde. 6/10
