North Peak Berserker Winter Imperial Stout

   AROMA 8/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 7/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 14/20Chad9976 (1564) - Orlando, Florida, USA - MAR 23, 2016

2015 BJCP Category: 20C Imperial Stout

AROMA: Moderately strong mocha aroma of milk chocolate and some coffee. Some dark cherry or plum character, but not intense nose overall. 9/12

APPEARANCE: Opaque jet black. Dark brown foam mostly dissipates. 2/3

FLAVOR: Mostly fruity in nature. Black currants, plum, cherry are all noticeable. Some candy-like chocolate lurks in the background. Surprisingly low bitterness; just a general roasted malt character. Pretty standard for the style, but not amazing. 14/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium/full body. Not quite as viscous and chewy as expected. Smooth with subtle alcohol warmth. Fairly clean aftertaste with mild dryness. 3/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Bottle may be very old which would explain the restrained palette. No flaws or off-putting qualities, but doesn’t pop as it should. 7/10
