JDub's Bell Cow Milk Chocolate Porter

   AROMA 6/10   APPEARANCE 2/5   TASTE 6/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 13/20Chad9976 (1607) - Lakeland, Florida, USA - MAY 28, 2016

2015 BJCP Category: 30A Spice/Herb/Vegetable and 20A American Porter

AROMA: Pure cocoa powder - smells like chocolate milk sans dairy. Very sweet. Nice but no other aromas present. 8/12

APPEARANCE: Ink black and opaque. No visible CO2. Head is dark brown but it fizzles away quickly and completely. 1/3

FLAVOR: Sweet cocoa powder throughout. Seems a little sugary like a candy bar. Some cola-like flavor. No specific malts or hops. Tasty, but simple and repetitive. 14/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium light body with low CO2. Feels thin, though smooth with a clean aftertaste. 3/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: More of a novelty beer than a true porter. The chocolate flavor is nice, but there’s no complexity or real depth to the brew. 6/10
