Brew Hub Keybilly Island Ale

   AROMA 8/10   APPEARANCE 2/5   TASTE 8/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 15/20ChadPolenz (1633) - Lakeland, Florida, USA - JUL 3, 2016

2015 BJCP Category: 29A Fruit Beer (base brew: 19A American Amber Ale)

AROMA: Lime flesh, but not acidic. Slight cinnamon aroma as well. Nose is not too strong. 8/12

APPEARANCE: Amber coppery brown hue. Body is cloudy but no sediment is apparent (neither is CO2). Small, white, soapy foam dissipates quickly. 1/3

FLAVOR: Graham cracker flavor to start. Slight cinnamon flavor but without spice or bite (beer does not appear to be brewed with cinnamon, though). Lime emerges on second half with a taste akin to puree, not straight juice as there is no acidity. Base amber brew is mild; virtually no hop distinctiveness. Still, a very delectable brew. 17/20

MOUTHFEEL: Light/medium body with low CO2. Texture is a bit watery, though it’s refreshing and highly quaffable. Slight lime/cinnamon aftertaste which fades quickly. 3/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: I really enjoy the flavor and drinkability (bonus points for cans over bottles). Not really to BJCP specs for the styles, though it’s probably not meant to be. 7/10

  1. If they dropped this down to 4-4.5% ABV and upped the CO2 it'd be awesome!
