2015 BJCP Category: 29A Fruit Beer (base style: 23C Oud Bruin)

AROMA: Authentic cherry puree, very sweet like a pie or a soda. Sourness is evident and complements the cherries well. No distinct base brew aromas, though. 10/12

APPEARANCE: Beautiful red wine-like shade of deep ruby; clear. Small, off white foam; some lacing. 3/3

FLAVOR: Cherry throughout. Slightly tart up front, but grows richer throughout the swig. Gentle sour bite at first, but fades. Fruit tastes authentic like pie (doesn’t taste like cough medicine). Some oak and vanilla character in the background. Simple, but tasty. 17/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium body; low CO2 with a noticeable viscosity. Lingering cherry flavor. Alcohol warmth is moderate but not distracting. 4/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Authentic sweet cherry taste is impressive, as is the blending of the base brews. Wish it was more sour, though. 9/10
