Wolters Pilsener

   AROMA 7/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 6/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 13/20ChadPolenz (1679) - Lakeland, Florida, USA - AUG 31, 2016

2015 BJCP Category: 5D German Pils

AROMA: Light honey with sweet graham cracker and clean grainy malt. Some sherry-like notes. 8/12

APPEARANCE: Golden hue; clear; effervescent. Moderate white foam, trace lacing. 2/3

FLAVOR: Sweet and malty for the style due to the age of the can. Plenty of pilsner malt with slight graham cracker taste. Faint floral or spicy hops impart light dry bitterness. Honey/lemon notes lurk in the background. 13/20

MOUTHFEEL: Light body; consistently crisp. Texture is a little watery, though it is smooth with a clean aftertaste. 3/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: This is probably a great brew when fresh, though it’s still drinkable with some age. 6/10

  1. I think this brewery has trouble getting beer here fresh. I had their Oktoberfest at a beer fest once and really enjoyed it. I went to my local beer store because they were running a sale on cases (should have maybe been a tip off) and the whole case was old and skunky.
