BrewDog Punk IPA (2016 re-review)

   AROMA 8/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 6/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 12/20ChadPolenz (1690) - Lakeland, Florida, USA - SEP 30, 2016

2015 BJCP Category: 21A American IPA

AROMA: West Coast style of citrus and tropical fruit. Clean and bright nose. Low grainy malt background. A hint of grass. 9/12

APPEARANCE: Pale orange hue; slightly hazy body (chill haze). Small, white foam mostly dissipates leaving little lacing. 2/3

FLAVOR: Mostly citrusy hops throughout; especially orange and pink grapefruit. Slight grass or tea-like flavor in the background. Bitterness is too low for the style (seems like a pale ale). Clean, unobstructive, grainy malt presence. 12/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium-light body with matching carbonation level (closer to light than medium). Texture is smooth and approaching watery. Aftertaste is almost completely clean. Seems much lighter than even 5.6% ABV. 3/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: While it smells good and tastes fine; this is better approached as a pale ale than an IPA. 6/10
