DuClaw Dirty Little Freak

   AROMA 7/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 6/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 12/20ChadPolenz (1750) - Lakeland, Florida, USA - JAN 27, 2017

DOB: 11/29/2016

2015 BJCP Category: 30A Spice/Herb/Vegetable Beer (base style: 19C American Brown Ale)

AROMA: Milk chocolate with faint coconut presence (both seem sweet and faux). No distinct malt or hop features. 8/12

APPEARANCE: Brown proper hue; dark but clear. Small tan foam. 3/3

FLAVOR: Milk chocolate throughout the first half and a coconut flavor as it finishes. I do not detect caramel per se, nor is there much in the way of specific malt character. Minor presence of earthy hops at the apex, though beer is not particularly bitter. Palette is rather mild overall (surprisingly so). 12/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium-light body and carbonation. Feels much lighter than 5.8% ABV. A slight resiny aftertaste. 3/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Should be a winner considering the recipe, but it’s too mild for my liking. 6/10
