DOC: 2/15/2017
2015 BJCP Category: 30A Spice/Herb/Vegetable Beer (base style: 21A American IPA)

AROMA: Strange juxtaposition of citrusy/spicy/herbal hops and tepid coffee. Not especially aromatic. No malt distinctiveness. 8/12

APPEARANCE: Gold/pale orange hue. Very clear. Moderate off-white soapy foam retains and laces fairly well. 2/3

FLAVOR: Standard West Coast-style IPA for the most part. Citrus hoppy flavors up front with a spicy/herbal taste on the backend. Coffee emerges in the middle in the form of a faux coffee flavoring. Seems to have a slight jalapeño aftertaste (beer is made with cold brew extract). Bitterness seems much lower than advertised. Malt base is nondescript. No alcohol presence. 12/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium body; medium-low carbonation. No challenge to drink, but it seems too light for 7.2% ABV. 3/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Rather predictable and generic for the style. The coffee character is underwhelming. 6/10
