DOC: 12/22/2016

2015 BJCP Category: 21A American IPA

AROMA: Prominent American hops with citrus and floral/green tea scents. Nose hints at a caramel sweetness. 10/12

APPEARANCE: Deep golden/pale copper hue; slightly hazy. Moderate off-white froth retains and laces well. 3/3

FLAVOR: Medium-high hop flavor and bitterness. Flavors are more rustic than aroma indicates. Notes of green tea, pine and a general earthy character. Malt background is simple with moderate caramel flavor. Mild spicy sensation on the finish and in the aftertaste. 14/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium-light body and carbonation with a smooth texture. Comfortable mouthfeel with no alcohol sensation. Seems a tad light for 6.5% ABV, but otherwise an easy beer to drink. 3/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Though well-balanced and to-spec for the style, the palette is not as exciting as it could be. 7/10

TOTAL SCORE: 37/50
