DOC:?

2015 BJCP Category: 18B American Pale Ale

AROMA: Moderately strong tropical and citrus fruit aroma. Grassy/piney scent is noticeable in the background. Medium-low caramel/amber malts invoke some sweetness. 9/12

APPEARANCE: Rusty copper/deep amber hue; very hazy body. Small off-white foam mostly dissipates. 1/3

FLAVOR: Hop-forward palette with moderately-strong notes of tropical, stone and citrus fruits. There is a spicy/woody sensation as it finishes which emphasizes the bitterness (which is restrained, but suffices for the style). Low malt presence with slight caramel specialty flavor, but otherwise not especially sweet. 15/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium body and carbonation. Smooth, slightly crisp and a tad refreshing. Hops leave a spicy sensation which is tolerable. Efficient for 5% ABV, but not what I would consider sessionable. 4/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: What you expect in an APA for the most part. Enjoyable but not amazing. 7/10

TOTAL SCORE: 36/50
