AROMA: Strong American hop aromatics of citrus, flowers and tropical
fruit. There is a slight sweetness present from the base malt (though
hops account for this as well). No alcohol presence. Very enticing.
APPEARANCE: Very hazy deep amber/pale orange hue. Moderate white froth retains and laces pretty well. 3/3
Hops dominate the palette from beginning to end. Up front it’s juicy
taste of citrus and tropical fruits. Back end is a bit more rustic with
grassy/piney notes. Bitterness is assertive, but never astringent or
distracting. Minor caramel taste from the malt, but beer is not sweet
per se. Hops linger in the aftertaste, but are quite tolerable. 18/20
Medium body and carbonation. Very smooth and comfortable in the mouth
and slightly refreshing. Plenty of flavor for only 5.8% ABV. Would work
well as a good contrasting pairing with sweet desserts or sharp cheese.
OVERALL IMPRESSION: This is exactly what an AIPA should be;
great hop presentation over a balanced palette. Bonus points for easy
drinkability and cans. 10/10
