M.I.A. Domino Pilsner

ChadPolenz (1801) - Lakeland, Florida, USA - JUN 23, 2017

DOC: 3/28/2017

2015 BJCP Category: 5D German Pils

AROMA: Medium-low light sweet grainy malt with a touch of honey and graham cracker. Faint spicy/floral hops. Clean fermentation. 9/12

APPEARANCE: Banana yellow hue; hazy body. Small white foam mostly dissipates. 2/3

FLAVOR: Mild palette of blonde malt. Much less sweet than nose indicates. Faint graham cracker character. Fairly strong honey flavor, though this is most likely oxidation. Finishes with a lightly spicy/pepper hop taste and dry bitterness. Mostly clean aftertaste. Not bad, but rather boring for the style. 12/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium-light body; medium-low CO2. Seems too calm and tepid for the style. Does not take full advantage of its 6% ABV potency. Feels like something lighter. A little too bland to session. 2/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: A beer that is inspired by a German pils rather than a proper example of the style. Drinkable, but far from exciting. 5/10
