DOC: 3/2/2017
2015 BJCP Category: 2A International Pale Lager
AROMA: Light sweet grainy malt without cereal notes. Minor presence floral/spicy hops. Clean fermentation. 10/12
APPEARANCE: Clear golden color; large bright white froth mostly dissipates, but does leave a bit of lacing. 3/3
FLAVOR: A moderate, firm amount of sweet grainy malt. Almost has a bit of a caramel flavor in the background. Palette becomes a bit more rustic and cracker-like on the departure. There is a low presence of spicy/earthy hops as it’s finishing with a slightly dry bitter aftertaste. Clean fermentation. Well-balanced and quite enjoyable. 18/20
MOUTHFEEL: Medium body and carbonation. More smooth and calm than effervescent. Has the refreshing quality of a pale lager with a clean aftertaste. Plenty of character for 5% ABV and possibly sessionable. 4/5
OVERALL IMPRESSION: Not the greatest beer in the world, but for the style it’s one of the best. This proves macro lagers can be enjoyable when brewed and served properly. 9/10
TOTAL SCORE: 44/50
