3.9
ChadPolenz (1814) - Lakeland, Florida, USA - JUL 17, 2017

DOC: 1/16/17

2015 BJCP Category: 2A International Pale Lager

AROMA: Moderately strong peppery and citrusy hops. Subtle sherry character from oxidation. Medium-low sweet grain. No adjuncts. Clean fermentation. 9/12

APPEARANCE: Maize yellow hue; hazy body with spastic carbonation visible. Moderate white foam retains and laces. 3/3

FLAVOR: Immediate lemon flavor followed by peppery sensation. Moderate hop bite at the apex followed by strong pepper taste as it finishes with lemon/grapefruit hops in the background. Malt base is quite sweet, but not cereal-like. Almost syrupy in flavor, not cloying though. 15/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium-light body; high carbonation. Crisp, slightly refreshing; lingering bittersweet aftertaste. Definite candidate for a session beer. 4/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Way more flavorful than your average pale lager; a little too modern to be a true Euro pils. 8/10

TOTAL SCORE: 39/50
