DOC: 12/13/16

2015 BJCP Category: 25B Saison

AROMA: Bright clean citrusy aroma, especially lemon. Subtle peppercorn in the background, but not a spicy nose per se. Perfume/floral yeast esters. 9/12

APPEARANCE: Pale yellow hue; extremely cloudy. Huge white soapy foam. Retains and laces well. 3/3

FLAVOR: Mild sweetness upfront likely due to oxidation, but is quickly obscured by a peppery, hoppy, estery palette. Lemon and orange citrus peel and pink/white peppercorn flavors are quite assertive. Dry underlying bitterness throughout. Soft malt base with moderate wheaty presence. Dry, peppery aftertaste with minor alcohol warmth. 17/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium-light body with high carbonation. Very crisp, tart, effervescent. Minor alcohol warmth and brief spicy aftertaste. 5/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Impressive and to-spec for the style. Not quite a classic but close. 9/10

TOTAL SCORE: 43/50
