AROMA: Light fruity notes, especially of white grape with slight pear or
apple notes. Clean, grainy-malt but with no residual sweetness. No
bready character. Noticeable sulfur character (acceptable for style).
Low floral/spicy hops. Clean fermentation. 10/12
Beautiful golden hue (2-4 SRM); brilliant clarity; effervescent. Large
white foam mostly dissipates but still laces some. 3/3
Soft malt palette throughout. White grape flavor is noticeable up front
with a constant peppery taste and dryness in the background which bites a
little as it finishes. Slight sulfur character is noticeable, but not
distracting (acceptable for the style). No bread or dough character.
Clean fermentation. Clean aftertaste. 17/20
MOUTHFEEL: Medium-light body; medium-high carbonation. Smooth, crisp, refreshing, quaffable and sessionable at 4.8% ABV. 5/5
OVERALL IMPRESSION: Delectable, fun to drink, and a fantastic example of the style. Almost perfect. 9/10
AROMA: Lightly sweet honey malt (likely oxidation) with a bit of a white wine character. No hops. Clean fermentation. 7/12
APPEARANCE: Brilliant golden hue (2-3 SRM). Effervescent. Moderate white foam retains and laces fairly well. 3/3
Lightly-sweet clean grainy malt presence with a subtle toast-with-honey
character. Medium-low bitterness throughout with a light, dry peppery
taste. Seems to be slightly oxidized with minor sherry flavor.
Well-attenuated. Clean fermentation. To spec; just old. 13/20
Medium-light body; low carbonation. Should be very effervescent and
crisp, this feels a bit flat. Not refreshing, but aftertaste is clean.
Sessionable at 4.8% ABV. 3/5
OVERALL IMPRESSION: I can tell this is a classic example of the style at the core, but not when it's 4-7 months old. 6/10
