BBD: 2/2018

2015 BJCP Category: 19A American Amber Ale

AROMA: Amber malt character with slight caramel overtones. Medium-low earthy hops. 9/12

APPEARANCE: Magenta/Burgundy hue (17-34 SRM); clear body. Large off-white foam mostly retains and laces. 3/3

FLAVOR: Sweet palette throughout with strong caramel and other confectionery flavors. Low hop flavor with earthy/piney notes; low dank bitterness. Aftertaste is somewhat sweet, but not cloying. This could almost pass as a brown ale. 14/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium body and carbonation. Quite smooth. Feels lighter than 6.2% ABV and is quite drinkable. 4/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Simple, yet enjoyable palette (if you like sweet beers). Needs more hop presence. Mostly to spec otherwise. 7/10

TOTAL SCORE: 37/50
