Highland Clawhammer Oktoberfest Lager

DOB: ?

2015 BJCP Category: 6A Märzen

AROMA: Moderately-low German malt with slight bread crust notes. No implied sweetness. Seems to have a slight tang. 7/12

APPEARANCE: Burnished copper hue (13-17 SRM); mostly clear body. Small off-white foam retains and laces well. 3/3

FLAVOR: Moderate amber/Munich maltiness up front. Some caramel/toffee flavor but low sweetness. Bit of a nutty taste lingers in the background. Low bitterness with piney hop character. Noticeable (but tolerable) tang on the finish that lingers briefly. 10/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium body; medium-low carbonation. Fairly smooth throughout. Seems about right at 5% ABV (which is weak for the style). 3/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Has the basic flavor down, but the flaws are hard to overlook. 4/10
