Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc

DOB: 6201317

2015 BJCP Category: 24A Witbier

AROMA: Slight tart pale malty/wheat aroma with a moderate orange zest component. Slight spiciness in the background is accentuated by a skunky scent due to the blue bottle. 9/12

APPEARANCE: Extremely hazy yellow/orange hue (2-4 SRM). Moderate white froth retains and laces well. 3/3

FLAVOR: Malty/wheaty flavor at the crux of the palette. Not bready or sweet. Fairly strong orange zest flavor on the second half imparts a nice sweetness with a brief spicy bite right as it finishes. Lightstrike is noticeable in the background. Very low bitterness and no hop flavor. 14/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium-light body; moderate carbonation. Smooth and refreshing, but not crisp. Pleasant orange candy-like aftertaste, otherwise clean. Feels a little lighter than 5% ABV, but is sessionable. 4/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Enjoyable palette overall; performance is impaired by age (and color) of bottle. 7/10
