Primátor Polotmavý 13°

BBD: 7/4/18

2015 BJCP Category: 3C Czech Amber Lager

AROMA: Bready/malty aroma; sweet but not cloying. No confectionery notes. Low earthy hop character. Clean fermentation. 9/12

APPEARANCE: Beautiful copper hue (13-17 SRM); mostly clear body. Large off-white foam retains well. 3/3

FLAVOR: Bready/malty flavor throughout. Taste is akin to non-sweetened bread or clean grainy malt. There is a slight toasty flavor as well. Caramel emerges right as it finishes with a quick boost of sweetness. Hops impart a consistent dry bitterness in the background with slight earthy flavor. There is a slight astringency that lingers briefly in the aftertaste (seems acceptable for style). Fairly well-balanced overall. Clean fermentation. 16/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium body and carbonation. Texture is smooth/slightly creamy. Not refreshing, but satisfying and efficient at 5.5% ABV. 4/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: I'd prefer something sweeter, but this is still a good example of the style as far as I can tell. 8/10

TOTAL SCORE: 40/50
