Bass Pale Ale

DOB: 9/14/17

2015 BJCP Category: 11C Strong Bitter

AROMA: Notes of nutty/toasted malt and slight caramel sweetness. Faint earthy/floral hops. No prominent esters. Nothing off-putting, just a very weak nose. 7/12

APPEARANCE: Clear copper hue (9-12 SRM). Moderate off-white foam retains and laces fairly well. 3/3

FLAVOR: Moderately-low malt impression. Has a nutty character and a slight toasted component. Light caramel is noticeable as a background flavor along with minor sweetness. Low hop character with earthy/floral flavor and minor dry bitterness. Very low fruity yeast esters. Nothing overtly off about the palette; it's just too mild for the style. 12/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium body and carbonation. Smooth and quaffable but not refreshing. Clean finish. Probably sessionable for some drinkers at 5.1% ABV. 4/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: A mild macro offering that pays lip service to the style. 6/10
