Ridgeway Insanely Bad Elf

DOB: 2016

2015 BJCP Category: 17A British Strong Ale

AROMA: Fairly strong malt base with a general sweetness. Slight citrus or melon fruit character. Minor alcohol presence. No obvious oxidation. 8/12

APPEARANCE: Hazy copper hue (9 SRM). Moderate off-white foam retains and laces somewhat well. 2/3

FLAVOR: Strong but simple malt flavor and accompanying sweetness. Notes of toffee; but no Maillard flavors or dark fruit notes. There is a slight orange taste, though this is likely from the hops. Bitterness is moderate. Alcohol is present, but fairly subtle. Overall palette is simple and not especially delectable. 10/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium body; moderate carbonation. Smooth and calm. Minor alcohol warmth for 11.2% ABV. Not necessarily a sipper. 3/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Difficult to judge to a style; though it's an unimpressive beer anyway. 5/10
