Central 28 Up River

Fill date: ?

Judged to 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines for: 18B American Pale Ale

AROMA: Moderately strong citrus and pine aroma from hops. Generic, nondescript base malt. Faint plastic/phenolic character. 8/12

APPEARANCE: Very hazy, dark amber/copper hue (7-9 SRM). Large white soapy foam mostly dissipates, but leaves some lacing. 2/3

FLAVOR: Malt-forward; almost British-like with a nutty/confectionery malt taste. Hops impart a firm bitterness, though actual flavor is a bit lower than nose would indicate (citrus/pine). Slight cider/plastic phenolic character on the finish. Minor alcohol warmth. 11/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium body; medium-high carbonation. Fairly smooth, but effervescent. Hops linger for a slightly dry aftertaste. Much stronger than it needs to be at 6% ABV. 3/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Amateurish product for a commercial brewery. Fermentation needs QC. Recipe needs adjustment. 4/10
