Green Man ESB

Best before date: 7/9/18

Judged to 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines for: 11C Strong Bitter

AROMA: Brown maltiness with slight nutty/caramel component. Moderate fruity/floral hops and yeast esters. 9/12

APPEARANCE: Rusty copper/mahogany hue (13-17 SRM). Hazy body, but translucent. Small, tan, soapy foam mostly dissipates. 2/3

FLAVOR: Lightly toasted malt throughout. Subtly sweet caramel flavor on the backend. There is an underlying fruity character from both the hops and the yeast (orange marmalade, especially). Bitterness is moderately low. 13/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium body; moderate carbonation. Smooth with a clean, dry finish. Feels a little lighter than 5.5% 3/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Definitely has all the characteristics I'd expect in an "ESB," but rather mild overall. Lacking an authentic factor. 6/10
