Green's Quest Gluten Free Tripel Ale

Best before: 7/6/22

Judged to 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines for: 31A Alternative Grain Beer (base style: 26C Belgian Tripel)

AROMA: Classic Belgian yeast esters and phenols (banana, clove, pepper). The alternative grains are certainly present and create for a twangy, almost cidery aroma (though definitely not infected). There is a flowery/perfume-like character as well. Alcohol is barely noticeable. 10/12

APPEARANCE: Deep amber/copper hue (5-9 SRM). Fairly clear body with slight haze. Moderate white fluffy foam retains and laces well. 3/3

FLAVOR: Quite sweet at first with a bit of a bready flavor. Belgian yeast imparts a fruity/citrusy/spicy character throughout the entire palette. There is a subtle cider-like presence. At the apex the hops emerge with a dry spicy flavor and fairy high bitterness. Sorghum twang comes through on the finish and grows a little stronger with each swig (not crazy about the aftertaste). Alcohol creates for a slight vanilla flavor and minor warmth. 16/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium bodied; medium-high carbonation (though it calms down quickly). Texture is soft and smooth. Remarkably drinkable for 8.5% ABV. 4/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Definitely works as a GF Belgian Tripel. Not as twangy as most, but impressive craftsmanship consider the ingredients and style. 9/10
