Julius Echter Premium Weissbier Hell (2018 re-review to BJCP specs)

Best before: 6/2018

Judged to 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines for: 10A Weissbier

AROMA: Strong banana and clove esters and phenols, respectfully. Light wheat bread component in the background. Slight vanilla or bubblegum character. 11/12

APPEARANCE: Extremely hazy flame orange/amber (4-5 SRM). Large, thick, moussy foam retains and laces well. 3/3

FLAVOR: Delectable fruity/spicy/sweet palette from all the classic flavors. Lovely balance of banana and clove yeast character along with a light wheat bread base. Banana taste lingers in the finish for an almost juicy sensation. Subtle spicy sensation from the clove-like phenols. Very low hop presence all around. Vanilla/bubblegum flavors are imperceptible. 18/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium-light body; high carbonation. Extremely smooth texture. Very refreshing and highly quaffable. Easily sessionable in warm climates at only 5.3% ABV. 5/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: An underrated and under-appreciated hefeweizen. It's just as good as the bigger name brands. 10/10
