Narragansett Bancroft Up or Down Ale

Fill date: 7/24/17

Judged to 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines for: 18A Blonde Ale

AROMA: Moderate citrusy hops. There is a subtle lemon presence from oxidation. Low generic pale malt with no sweetness. Clean fermentation. 8/12

APPEARANCE: Hazy shade of gold (4-5 SRM). Large white foam never completely dissipates and leaves some lacing. 2/3

FLAVOR: Pale malt base with faint authentic grainy character. There is a lemony taste with a slight sweetness due to oxidation. The hops are fairly prominent with a nice citrusy flavor and moderate bitterness. Fairly well-balanced overall with a medium-dry finish. 13/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium-light body; medium-high carbonation. Smooth, crisp and refreshing. Quite sessionable at only 4.2% ABV. 5/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Definitely on-point for an American blonde. If it were fresh it'd be pretty excellent. 6/10

TOTAL SCORE: 34/50
