Best before date: 6/2018
Judged to 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines for: 33A Wood-Aged Beer (base style: 7C Kellerbier)
AROMA: Pale/lightly-browned malts without strong sweetness. Slightly floral/herbal hops. Faint woody presence, but is difficult to distinguish. Fermentation seems quite clean (perhaps a bit too clean for the style). 8/12
APPEARANCE: Deep amber/light brown hue (9-13 SRM). Hazy but easily translucent. Large, off-white froth retains and laces well. 3/3
FLAVOR: Bready malt is quite prominent. Sweet, but not rich; slight toasted flavor. Mild hop bitterness with an earthy/floral flavor on the back end. Oak chips impart a subtle woody/nutty flavor (do not seem to add much to the brew, though). Medium dry finish with mild spicy hop aftertaste. Clean fermentation. 12/20
MOUTHFEEL: Medium body; medium carbonation. Smooth and crisp; no tannins from wood. Not refreshing, but highly drinkable and sessionable at 5% ABV. 4/5
OVERALL IMPRESSION: A more-than-decent Kellerbier, but nothing is gained from oak chip aging (hence the low score). 6/10
TOTAL SCORE: 33/50
