Civil Society Social Lube

Fill date: ?

Judged to 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines for: 21B Specialty IPA (New England IPA)

AROMA: Very strong tropical/citrus fruit aroma; almost juicy. A slight herbal or grassy component. Enough base malt for balance, though no implied sweetness or specialty character. Clean fermentation. 11/12

APPEARANCE: Opaque pale orange hue (4-5 SRM). Moderate white foam mostly dissipates but leaves some lacing. 3/3

FLAVOR: Strong hop flavor throughout. Classic NEIPA style of juicy tropical fruits and some pink grapefruit-like flavor. There is also a spicy hop note in the background. Actual bitterness level is moderate. Base malt provides enough support for balance and moderate sweetness, though no specialty character. Aftertaste is a bit yeasty, but also with a dried citrus peel-like taste. No alcohol presence. 17/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium body; medium-high carbonation. Texture is smooth; almost creamy. Beer is refreshing and easily drinkable despite being rather strong at 7% ABV. 4/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Smells great, tastes good, and easily drinkable. One of the better NEIPAs that's not actually made in New England. 9/10
