Thirsty Nomad The Queen

Fill date: 4/16/18

Judged to 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines for: 26C Belgian Tripel

AROMA: Virtually odorless nose. Only faint hint of spice and esters. 5/12

APPEARANCE: Hazy shade of yellowish-orange (4-7 SRM). Large white foam mostly dissipates. 2/3

FLAVOR: Moderate amber malt base with some caramel sweetness. Moderately-low yeast-derived peppery flavors in the background and faint banana-like esters in the aftertaste. Hop bitterness is moderate with low spicy flavor. Alcohol is present and adds a slight butterscotch note. Likely not fermented at proper temperature nor duration. Seems under-attenuated. Doesn't taste bad, but is far from spec. 11/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium-full body; low carbonation. Smooth, but not sticky. At 9.3% ABV, the alcohol warmth is fairly tame. Decent drinkability, but opposite of spec for the style. 2/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: It's within the ballpark of the style, but still has a way to go just to be an average example. 4/10
