Triple C Baby Maker Double IPA

Fill date: 2/27/18

Judged to 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines for: 22A Double IPA

AROMA: Fairly strong piney/resin/floral hop aroma. Some clean malty sweetness offer balance. Slight fruity character as well. Clean fermentation. No alcohol presence. 10/12

APPEARANCE: Deep amber/copper hue (7-13 SRM). Body is hazy but not muddy. Large off-white froth retains and laces well. 3/3

FLAVOR: Prominent hoppy palette at all times. Hop flavor is of the East Coast-style pine/resin/floral makeup. Bitterness is fairly strong and rich (in no way dry nor astringent). The malt base is quite hefty and provides substantial sweetness with a slight caramel quality. Despite the dark color, there is no toasty flavor. Aftertaste is bitter, yet somewhat malty as well. Alcohol imparts a subtle vanilla taste and a gentle warmth. 18/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium body; moderate carbonation. Smooth texture and quite drinkable for such a strong brew. The 8.5% ABV is evident, but not intimidating. 4/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Tasty, delectable, and fun DIPA that seems to make an old school approach seem new. 9/10
