Green Man Porter

Enjoy by date: 11/20/18

Judged to 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines for: 13C English Porter

AROMA: Moderately-low bready maltiness with a slight chocolate component, though it does not smell sweet per se. Slight nutty quality. Low floral/earthy hops. Clean fermentation.

APPEARANCE: Dark reddish-brown (22-27 SRM), seemingly black in the glass. Moderate tan foam retains and laces well. 3/3

FLAVOR: Much more robust and complex than nose would indicate. Moderately-strong bready/toasty malt with a sweet chocolate and caramel flavor. There is a subtle nutty character throughout accompanied by a noticeably bitter earthy/floral hop character. Aftertaste is bittersweet akin to dark chocolate. Well-balanced palette. No alcohol presence. Clean fermentation. 15/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium body; moderately-low carbonation. Very smooth with a creamy texture. Drinks like a much lighter brew than 6% ABV. 4/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: A bit Americanized for the style, though still tasty and well-balanced with nice drinkability. 8/10
