The Duck-Rabbit Märzen

Best before date: 11/2018

Judged to 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines for: 6A Märzen

AROMA: Moderate brown Continental malt - sightly sweet and bready. No hops (none needed). Clean lager fermentation. 10/12

APPEARANCE: Beautiful, clear, reddish-copper hue (13-17 SRM). Moderate tan foam retains and laces well. 3/3

FLAVOR: Moderately-high malty taste throughout. Lightly sweet with significant bread and bread crust flavors. Subtle caramel flavor. Rather low bitterness, but enough for balance. Background presence of floral/earthy hop flavor. Aftertaste is malty, but far from cloying. Well-attenuated with clean lager fermentation. 17/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium body; moderate carbonation. Smooth and soft texture. Remarkably robust and filling for only 4.6% ABV. 5/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Not quite a perfect Märzen, but awfully close. Has everything you want in the style at a lighter, more sessionable ABV. 9/10

TOTAL SCORE: 44/50
